Cruise drama has a shock ending: Ann Evans, 55, who mysteriously vanished from a luxury cruise vacation, has been found alive after more than a week missing in the Caribbean. The American tourist left the Holland America Line’s Rotterdam ship for a sightseeing trip on November 20—but never returned, sparking a frantic search on the sun-soaked island of Saint Martin.

According to authorities, Evans stepped off a tour bus in Marigot, located on the French side of paradise—and then simply disappeared. Police quickly issued alerts and mobilized law enforcement on both the Dutch and French sides of the island, desperate for clues.

A breakthrough came when investigators uncovered that a woman matching Evans’s description had checked into a local hotel, passport in hand. Eyewitnesses reported spotting her in the vicinity of the hotel—fueling hopes that she was safe.

The Police Force of Sint Maarten broke their silence on Friday, confirming that Evans had been located and direct contact had been established. They’re keeping tight-lipped on the details, citing strict privacy laws and rules protecting sensitive data.

A spokesperson for Holland America Line said, “We’re relieved Ann Evans has been found and grateful for the hard work of Sint Maarten officials who cracked the case.” Sint Maarten police also took to Facebook, thanking residents and partner agencies for coming together during the island-wide investigation.

Evans’s vanishing act joins a handful of other baffling U.S. cruise ship passenger disappearances—six cases logged by the U.S. Department of Transportation since September this year. The latest drama, though, wraps up on a positive note, as missing tourist Ann Evans is alive and reportedly well, but exactly what happened during those missing days remains a closely guarded secret.
