A promising young Latin music artist has been killed in a targeted ambush-style shooting in Los Angeles, prompting a full-scale manhunt and waves of mourning through the music community. The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Maria De La Rosa, known professionally as DELAROSA.
According to authorities, the incident took place in the Northridge neighborhood near Bryant Street and Tampa Avenue at approximately 1:25 a.m. on November 22. Police say two male suspects approached a parked vehicle occupied by De La Rosa and two others, and opened fire with multiple rounds. De La Rosa was struck and later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The two other occupants of the vehicle were critically wounded.

Investigators have released few details about the motive or identity of the assailants and stressed that no arrests have yet been made. They are treating the event as an ambush rather than a random act of violence and are appealing for tips from the public.
De La Rosa had recently begun to gain traction in the Latin music industry, following the August release of her single “No Me Llames.” Her social-media presence included posts this past October hinting at new studio work, leading many fans to see her as an emerging talent.
In the hours following the shooting, tributes to De La Rosa flooded social platforms, with industry figures and fans alike expressing shock and grief over the sudden loss. The Los Angeles Police Department’s homicide division has asked anyone with information to contact detective teams at their Valley Bureau, offering anonymity for tipsters.
