A 43-year-old mother accused of repeatedly endangering her toddler appeared before a Butler County judge on Wednesday, pleading not guilty to charges that prosecutors say stem from years of fabricated medical crises.
Jennifer Parker is charged with three counts of child endangerment, accused of subjecting her 2-year-old son to a string of unnecessary hospital visits — more than 20 trips to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital since his birth, according to prosecutors.

Assistant Butler County Prosecutor Lindsay Sheehan told the court the pattern was unmistakable.
“Since birth, under Miss Parker’s care, this child — now 2 — has been hospitalized over 20 times,” Sheehan said, describing what investigators believe was a prolonged cycle of medical abuse.
Parker, dressed in jail attire, quietly entered her not-guilty plea as a judge ordered her to have no contact with any of her children. Butler County Children Services has removed them from the home.
A Mother Defending Herself Online
Just days before her arrest, Parker took to Facebook to deny wrongdoing. In a Nov. 10 post, she claimed she was being unfairly singled out by hospital staff and suggested other parents had been accused by the same medical team.
“One parent not only was accused of the exact same thing by the exact same inpatient team, but we have the exact same complex pediatrician,” Parker wrote. “I know there’s more people. I know there are more mothers and parents and grandparents who are suffering the same allegations.”
Authorities, however, say Parker repeatedly brought her son to the hospital for medical conditions he did not have — a pattern consistent with medical child abuse, sometimes referred to as Munchausen syndrome by proxy.
Fiancé: ‘She Wanted the Best for Her Children’
Outside the courthouse, Parker’s fiancé, Michael Carpenter, who is also the child’s father, defended her.
“She’s a caring mother that wanted the best for her children,” he told local NBC affiliate WLWT. Carpenter insisted their son has struggled with health issues since birth and that the couple had difficulty finding a doctor who could properly diagnose him.
Neither prosecutors nor hospital officials have publicly detailed the specific illnesses Parker allegedly fabricated.
Parker was arrested Monday and booked into the Butler County Jail. She is being held on $50,000 bond.
Her next hearing — a plea or trial setting — is scheduled for Nov. 24. Until then, she remains barred from contacting any of her children.
As the investigation continues, prosecutors say the focus remains on the toddler’s safety and the years he spent cycling through hospital wards under Parker’s care.
