A Florida woman is behind bars after a “rip-roaring drunk” brawl that started as an argument that ended with a streeet fight against her husband, a firefighter, and law enforcement. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, 24-year-old Laylani Sullivan was arrested on Oct. 15 and charged with domestic violence battery by strangulation, battery on a firefighter, and two counts of resisting an officer.

Deputies were called to a home in Polk City, a quiet town about 40 miles southwest of Orlando, after reports of a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, Sullivan’s husband told them his wife had been “very intoxicated and started screaming and cursing.” The argument, authorities said, escalated quickly. Sullivan allegedly choked her husband to the point where he couldn’t breathe. “He could not breathe,” the arrest affidavit reads plainly—a small but chilling phrase in an otherwise absurd story.

Sheriff Grady Judd recounted the scene in a Facebook video that quickly went viral. “Oh brother, she got rip-roaring drunk,” he said. “Took off every bit of her clothes. When we found her she was in the front yard of the house after biting and slapping around her husband who dialed 911. So we tried to arrest her. And she didn’t like that at all.”

Deputies say Sullivan fought with them as they tried to place her in handcuffs, ignoring multiple commands to stop resisting. At one point, she ended up in a ditch, still unclothed. Polk County Fire and Rescue arrived to assist, and a firefighter and female deputy tried to help Sullivan get dressed. That, too, ended badly. Sullivan allegedly struck the firefighter in the chest during the attempt to cover her, prompting another struggle before she was finally taken into custody.

The sheriff’s office affidavit paints a vivid picture of the mayhem: an angry, thrashing suspect, arms swinging, officers wrestling her into handcuffs, a crowd of first responders trying to maintain control. “While attempting to take Laylani into custody,” the deputy wrote, “Laylani became very angry and aggressive and was actively tugging and pulling away.”

In his signature drawl, Judd wrapped up his recounting of the incident with something resembling a moral—half warning, half punchline. “How much do you have to drink to rip off all your clothes, slap your husband around, bite him, and then lay down in the front yard?” he asked. “I can’t answer that. But Laylani can.”

Sullivan is being held in the Polk County Jail on a $16,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on November 18.
