An award-winning Texas nurse once recognized for her compassion is now at the center of a disturbing scandal after allegedly threatening police officers during a DWI arrest, warning them not to show up at her hospital for treatment because she would “let [them] die.”
Her Threats Were Captured on Bodycam

Crystal Tadlock, 35, a registered nurse who worked in the intensive care unit at Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital in Houston, was arrested early Saturday morning in Magnolia, Texas, after police say she was speeding and showed clear signs of intoxication. The incident, captured on bodycam video and detailed in an, shows Tadlock allegedly cursing at officers, making racist remarks, and threatening their lives and families. “When you come through my hospital, don’t worry, I’ll let you die,” Tadlock can be heard saying in the footage. “All your family members — and this is all on recording.” At one point, she warned them, “Greater Heights. Don’t go there.”
From Zero To Racist

According to the arrest report, officers with the Magnolia Police Department pulled Tadlock over at around 12:20 a.m. after clocking her at 66 mph in a 50 mph zone. It took her roughly 40 seconds to stop after police activated their lights. When questioned, Tadlock reportedly said she had just dropped off friends who had been drinking after a concert at the Cynthia Woods Pavilion and was heading home. Police allege that Tadlock’s eyes were “bloodshot and glassy,” her speech slurred, and her breath smelled strongly of alcohol. She reportedly failed multiple field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. During transport, the arresting officer wrote, Tadlock became “increasingly belligerent,” lashing out with racist comments and threats. “Crystal also made racist comments about my ethnicity and stated that she is going to be getting out of this because she is white,” the report states. “She also stated that she had an issue with me because I was not white.”
She Refused To Admit That She Was Drunk

At one point, Tadlock allegedly mocked the officer’s accent, saying, “You can’t speak straight because you have an accent from another country.” She went on to call the officer “half-American” before adding, “You’re gonna be so embarrassed. And I’m also white.” When asked why she was being “so mean,” Tadlock replied, “Because I’m not drunk, and I have a newborn that I’m trying to go home to.” She also claimed a recent “eye injunction” was responsible for her driving erratically and insisted she was “allowed to speed.”
She Was Even More Belligerent After She Was Booked

According to the report, once booked at the county jail, Tadlock repeated her earlier threats to jail staff — telling them that if any of them ever came to her hospital, she would “ensure they die.” Magnolia Police Chief Kyle Montgomery condemned her conduct in a statement to Law&Crime. “I understand being emotional when you realize that you’ve made a huge mistake that will land you in jail,” Montgomery said. “But taking your anger out on the officer is never acceptable. There is no excuse for anyone to act like this.”
She’s No Longer an ICU Nurse

Tadlock was charged with driving while intoxicated and released on bond. She has since been terminated from her position at Memorial Hermann. “Immediately upon learning of this incident, we took swift action to suspend the employee pending investigation,” a hospital spokesperson told local ABC affiliate KTRK. “She has subsequently been terminated.” The DAISY Foundation, which had previously honored Tadlock for her dedication to patient care, once described her as “an exceptional ICU nurse who always goes above and beyond when providing care.”
