Wichita police are asking for the public’s help to identify a woman seen in home-security footage being dragged away by a man in what authorities are calling a “disturbing and concerning incident.”

The Video Is Horrifying

The brief, 20-second clip—captured around 2 a.m. Sunday outside a residence on the city’s south side—shows a man grabbing a woman from behind and restraining her as she struggles to break free. In the video, released by police Monday, the woman appears to cry out for help while the man, dressed in a black T-shirt and jeans, wraps his arms around her and pulls her down a driveway. Her muffled screams echo as the two vanish from the camera’s view. By the time officers arrived at the home later that day, both individuals were gone. The homeowner told police they discovered the footage that morning on their Ring doorbell camera and immediately reported it.

Who Is The Missing Woman?

At a Tuesday press conference, Wichita Police spokesperson Andrew Ford said investigators have not been able to identify either person in the footage or match the woman’s description to any open missing persons cases in the area. Detectives have reviewed reports dating back to October 1 and canvassed surrounding neighborhoods for leads. “We’re operating under the assumption this is a legitimate incident,” Ford said. “Our biggest concern right now is the welfare and safety of the woman in the video.”

So far, police say they have not found evidence suggesting the public is in immediate danger, but the department is treating the case with urgency. Officers have also confirmed that no disturbance calls were reported near the time or location of the incident. Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward for information that helps identify either the man or the woman. Authorities are urging residents who may recognize the individuals—or who have additional video footage from nearby homes or businesses—to come forward.

So Many Tips, Zero Leads

The department also issued a direct message to the woman in the video: if she is safe, police want her to reach out immediately. “We just want to make sure she’s okay,” Ford said. “That’s the most important thing right now.” The footage has spread across social media like wildfire, although investigators say that none of the tips they’ve received so far has led to a positive identification. Police stressed that while home-security technology can be an invaluable investigative tool, it often relies on public cooperation to fill in the gaps.

If You Have Information, Come Forward

As the search continues, the department is asking anyone with information to contact investigators at 316-267-2111, submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers, or call 911 if they believe they’ve seen the woman or the man. Ford said, “We’re treating this as real until proven otherwise. Someone knows who they are, and we need that person to come forward.”
