“Real Housewives of Potomac” cast member Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo, were arrested in Maryland this week following a grand jury indictment accusing them of fabricating a burglary at their home earlier this year. Both face multiple felony charges related to fraud and providing false information to police, according to court records.

Authorities said the couple contacted the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office on April 7, 2024, claiming their Finksburg residence had been burglarized while they were on vacation. They told investigators that luxury items, including jewelry, clothing, handbags and shoes all valued at more than $200,000 were missing. Deputies who responded to the scene documented the report and began an investigation into the alleged theft.

Detectives soon grew skeptical of the Osefos’ account after discovering evidence that contradicted the couple’s version of events. Investigators found that roughly $20,000 worth of items that the Osefos had reported as stolen had been returned for refunds to various retailers. Among them was a high-end Dior shirt that had allegedly been returned months before the burglary was reported. Investigators also located images appearing to show one of the Osefos wearing jewelry that had been listed as missing.

Bail documents cited by prosecutors outlined additional inconsistencies. The area next to the supposed entry point for the break-in — a second-floor bathroom window — showed no signs of disturbance, and the home’s alarm system did not register movement while the couple was away. Investigators also alleged that the Osefos filed multiple insurance claims related to the same items, including a diamond anniversary band that was later seen in social media posts worn by Wendy Osefo weeks after the alleged burglary.

The couple was taken into custody Thursday following the execution of a search warrant at their home. Wendy Osefo faces 16 counts, including charges of filing false reports, insurance fraud and making misleading statements to law enforcement. Her husband, Eddie, faces 18 similar charges. Both were released on bond Friday and are awaiting court appearances.

A spokesperson for the Osefos said they are back home and “in good spirits,” expressing gratitude for the support they have received from friends and fans. The statement added that the couple and their legal team “look forward to their day in court” and asked for “privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process.”

Wendy Osefo, 41, joined Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Potomac” in 2020. Off-screen, she is a political commentator and professor. Her husband, also 41, is an attorney and founder of a cannabis brand. Bravo has not commented publicly on the arrests, which occurred shortly after the release of another “Real Housewives of Potomac” star from prison. That star, Karen Huger, served one year for DUI.
