As Taylor Swift promotes her new album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” in the United Kingdom, reports suggest she has also been quietly exploring property options in London. While the superstar has lived in the city before, her latest search reflects both her personal ties to the capital and growing concerns about her safety and privacy in the United States. Here’s why Swift may finally add a home in London to her property portfolio.
Increased Safety Concerns

Swift’s security has become a pressing concern. The assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk last September heightened her sense of vulnerability, particularly as she has long faced threats, stalkers and hate mail. Last summer, several concert dates for the Austrian leg of her Eras Tour were canceled due to terrorist threats. More recently, Swift has been ushered into NFL stadiums behind bullet-proof screens at games in which her fiancé, Travis Kelce, was playing. For her and her team, a London property could provide a safer environment with greater privacy.

In recent years, Swift has taken public stances on political issues in the U.S., particularly after endorsing Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. Her opposition to Donald Trump drew sharp criticism, culminating in the former president declaring on social media that he hates her. That backlash, followed by waves of online harassment, has left Swift weary of the divisive climate at home. London could offer a calmer base where she can focus on her music and personal life away from partisan battles.
A Longstanding Love Affair With London

Swift has never hidden her fondness for the British capital. During her relationship with actor Joe Alwyn, she spent years living in neighborhoods such as Primrose Hill, Chipping Norton and Crouch End, even weathering the COVID-19 lockdowns there. In 2019, she released her song “London Boy,” a tribute to the city that references Camden Market, Brixton and the West End. Friends say that she appears happy when she spends time in London, and that fondness could finally translate into a lasting investment.
Notting Hill’s Celebrity Appeal

Her latest property search is said to be focused on London’s Notting Hill, the neighborhood made famous by the 1999 film starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. Known for its colorful streets, bustling markets and cosmopolitan lifestyle, Notting Hill has become a hub for celebrities and international residents alike. Swift would not be alone in making the move; actors Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are reported to be living there with their children, while Ellen DeGeneres has also moved to the U.K., and America Ferrera has apparently been looking at London schools.
Balancing Global and U.S. Commitments

Despite her love for London, Swift is unlikely to abandon the U.S. entirely. Her real estate portfolio already includes a Rhode Island mansion, a Beverly Hills estate and multiple properties in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood. Her fiancé Kelce’s football career also keeps him primarily based in Kansas City for now. But having a permanent home in London would allow Swift to balance her commitments on both sides of the Atlantic, giving her flexibility while maintaining her ties to a city that continues to inspire her.
