Hulk Hogan, one of the most recognizable names in professional wrestling, died on July 24 at age 71. Official forensic reports point to an acute myocardial infarction — a heart attack — as the cause of death. Yet nearly a month later, questions still linger, as his widow and daughter appear to disagree on whether his passing was simply tragic or potentially avoidable.

For fans of the six-time WWF World Champion, the announcement came as a shock. In the days leading up to his death, close friends like Jimmy Hart, Eric Bischoff, and Bubba the Love Sponge had reassured the wrestling community that Hogan was doing reasonably well. While he had health concerns, nothing suggested a sudden end was near. That disconnect between perception and reality has made his death feel all the more abrupt.

Hogan’s daughter, Brooke Hogan, broke her silence on social media five days after his passing. She acknowledged the heartbreak of losing her father but insisted she did not believe there was foul play involved. Speaking to TMZ later, she doubled down on that point, clarifying that while the loss was devastating, she accepted the medical examiner’s finding of cardiac arrest.

But not everyone in the family is so certain. Sky Daily, Hogan’s widow, has signaled her belief that something more may have gone wrong. She suspects medical malpractice and has reportedly begun preparing a lawsuit against the doctors who performed Hogan’s neck surgery just months earlier in May. According to her account, she believes a nerve that controls breathing — the phrenic nerve — may have been damaged during the procedure.

The possibility of malpractice gained traction after details of Daily’s 911 call were made public. In the recording, she can be heard telling the dispatcher, “My husband’s not breathing. He just stopped breathing.” Sources close to TMZ suggested the tone and details of the call hint that Hogan may not have suffered a sudden heart attack but instead lost his ability to breathe.

Daily, unconvinced by the official autopsy, ordered a private one. The results have not been released, though speculation is already swirling that she may have discovered evidence to support her suspicion. If so, her legal team may attempt to argue that Hogan’s death was not merely the result of natural causes, but of preventable surgical error.

Brooke Hogan, however, has offered a more cautious interpretation of the situation. She told TMZ that if malpractice were proven, it would still fall under the classification of a “natural death” rather than intentional harm. “It’s not like someone went and stabbed you,” she explained. “It would fall under their medical malpractice case.” In her view, any legal case would be separate from the role of police investigators.

The Clearwater Police Department in Florida is conducting its own probe, though officials maintain that the medical examiner’s ruling of cardiac arrest stands unless new evidence emerges.

For the wrestling world, the split within Hogan’s family mirrors the uncertainty fans themselves are experiencing. Was this truly the abrupt end of a man whose physical presence once seemed larger than life, or is there more to the story waiting to be uncovered?
