Twenty-seven years after Amy Lynn Bradley vanished without a trace from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, a resurfaced photo and a new Netflix documentary are renewing hope — and reigniting debate — over what really happened to the 23-year-old college graduate on that March morning in 1998.

Amy was on vacation with her family, sailing near Curaçao, when she was last seen around 5:30 a.m. on the balcony of their cabin. By 6:00 a.m., she was gone. Despite immediate searches of the ship and port, no trace of her was found. For decades, theories have ranged from accidental drowning to abduction and forced sex work. But until recently, the case had largely gone cold.

Now, a three-part Netflix series has brought the mystery back into focus, largely due to one chilling clue: a photo posted years after Amy’s disappearance on an adult website. The woman in the image bears a striking resemblance to Amy — so much so that FBI experts reportedly confirmed it as a match to her earlier photos.

Private investigator Manuel Gomez, a former Army counterintelligence officer, says he’s convinced the woman is Amy. “There is no doubt in my mind that the 2005 photo of that lady is Amy,” he told Newsmax. “I’m even willing to bet my license on it.”

Gomez believes Amy may have been kidnapped and trafficked. He criticized earlier efforts to locate her, saying both the FBI and privately hired investigators failed to pursue the most likely lead: infiltration of sex trafficking networks. Gomez, who claims to have rescued victims in similar cases, argues that investigators should have monitored escort websites in the Caribbean, particularly in Curaçao and Barbados, where traffickers are known to operate.

Adding weight to this theory, Amy’s family recalls unsettling moments before and after her disappearance. Her brother Brad has said a crew member who had danced with Amy at the ship’s nightclub later made an inappropriate comment about her. The same man reportedly approached Brad before any public announcements were made to say, “I’m sorry about your sister.”

For Amy’s family, the Netflix documentary represents their latest — and possibly last — chance at finding the truth. Her mother, Iva Bradley, told the documentary’s creators that she hopes the series will reach someone who recognizes her daughter. “All of our eggs are in your basket,” she said.

While some still believe the simplest explanation — that Amy may have fallen or jumped overboard — others are more compelled than ever by the photograph and the mounting evidence that she may have been forced into a life she never chose.

The documentary doesn’t provide a definitive answer. But it does suggest one may still be out there. And for Amy’s family, the search isn’t over.
